Forget 1999, let’s kick it way back and party like it’s the 1920s! Grab someone who’s loads of fun and have a roaring good time this New Year’s Eve.
Dubbed “Times Square in Lexington,” Robert E. Lee Hotel’s New Year’s Eve is complete with a lighted ball drop at midnight. Prior to the clock’s midnight strike, enjoy a special dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, Rocca. Later, toast 2016 with 20’s inspired hors d’oeuvres like shrimp cocktail and ham and pimento cheese tea sandwiches. Signature drink specials for the night will include “The Great Gatsby,” of course, a gin and tonic on the rocks with cucumber and lime. Shake your tail feathers to two live bands: Hip Shack and Five Dollar Shake. It all makes for one incredible night on the town in historic downtown Lexington.
The newly renovated Waterside Marriott in Norfolk will host Gatsby III NYE Ball, traditionally a sell-out affair to remember. Will you bet against the house in this casino themed event? Don’t worry, it’s just “Monopoly” money. When 2016 rushes in at midnight, balloons and confetti will fill the space and VIP’s will enjoy a champagne toast. Get your tickets before they’re gone.
Off the Hookah is a popular Richmond hot spot that’s about to get a little hotter. Their Great Gatsby NYE will overflow into Hat Factory to deliver 30,000 square feet of party space. Dress to impress and secure a spot in one of the 18 VIP sections. Ticket sales cease December 29.
Even if there isn’t a party, you can enjoy the glamor of the 1920s anytime at a Prohibition-inspired speakeasy … if you know where to find them. Though I’ll share their names, discovering the secret entrances and passwords are part of the fun! Off you go.
